cast iron whatsit?,wall hanger for?

    3.5" wide flat/rounded part,6" long flat topped hook for your hat???
    two screw holes for wall mount?

    For hanging hat on top and coat from the lower part. Could be attached to the wall or with others in a line along a rectangular piece of wood (which was in turn attached to the wall.)

    There's a Welsh saying describing surprise, "his eyes were standing out like chapel hat pegs"

    That's a chapel hatpeg.

    Fancy cast iron not likely to be much later than 1900.

    I'm told by an inhouse Welsh/Yorkshire cross breed that Chapel hatpegs is a Yorkshire saying, not a welsh one. Like "I could eat a pickled shire horse."
