Sorry I have been somewhat absent I have been unbelievably busy putting together the next auction and it is a big one. We are going to have well over 300 lots possible close to 500 it's crazy for me. It is pretty much me doing it all and I am really overwhelmed. LOL! Not really that funny.

Anyways I came across a few items and I have no clue what they are I have some guesses. The first is a Tiffany & Co Silver hat brush it has another piece to it with a different mark. They were packaged together (which I am learning means nothing) but I don't know what the second piece is. It looks like a tray that was cut in half. It has a different mark so they didn't originally go together. I am unsure of the mark.

I also have a bunch of these little hook things that I think might be stocking menders or something like that. One of them has a shoe horn attached. Any idea on these items at least point me in the right direction. Thanks so much in advance.

    The half-tray and brusher-thingie (top) is a table-crumb cleaner, I believe.

    EDIT

A few of the button hooks look to be French Ivory, a fancy term for celluloid.
Hand mirrors and such were also made of this celluloid. (Back in the day)

The crumber is silver plated, made by Hartford Sterling Co. For some reason my go-to online sources don't show their "windmill" mark, although it is in Rainwater. It says "Silvered" under the H S Co.

I have an upload going as we speak I don't know how much is in this batch with birds I may have more coming. It looks like most of the bird stuff starts on page two right now. It is a little scattered. I haven't exactly gotten all this organized. It has been such a crazy last week. People started bring stuff in left and right and I am honestly having a hard time getting it all up. I do believe most of the birdie items are listed on page two right now. I will tell you the way my auctions have been going you are bound to get a good deal on anything you see. ;-)

Not sure if it's okay for me to post this link here for you. If not I am sorry take it down and my bad. This should take you to page two. Although there may be more stuff on other pages sorry it is all kind of a big mess right now.

I didn't read everyone's post, so maybe someone mentioned this.

The sterling Tiffany brush is a clothes brush and does not belong with the crumb tray.

Can't help w/these items, but enjoyed the link, well done so far, Kaspers! Everything looks great.

I also love the Kaspers Auctions logo, with the large A as the "A" in Kaspers and Auction. Has a sophisticated look about it. Whoever thought of that had a good eye for graphics.

I was scrolling through. The Tiffany ring pictures aren't displaying, unless you haven't put them up yet.

    Thanks everyone!

This isn't the end product of the catalog. I have a lot of silver plate things that just say silver right now and a ton of items with whatever for the title and no description. I wanted to get the pictures an minimum opening bids up for my systems inventory. I am still working on titles, descriptions, and lot numbers.

Don't judge me too harshly on the catalog yet. LOL! I will let you know when it is finished.

I hate to say it but I think I have more than I can handle right now. LOL! And people just keep bringing stuff my phone is ringing off the hook with people wanting to consign and a lot of it is really good stuff and they are motivated sellers and aren't requesting reserves. Makes me a little nervous considering the crowd at the last couple of auctions. We are starting some things extremely low. A ton of stuff is at $1 and some of it makes me sick. I am like heck I will buy it for that.

My husband said if he had the money he would have already spent a hefty wad if no one else bid against him. He wants that BMW Z3. I hope that thing sells. I have a lot of people interested in it. Heck I would love to buy it. It's a nice little car. Not really practical for me but it's is kind of fun.

We may get a motorcycle in the next day that is one of a kind autographed by Merle Haggard. It was suppose to be 1 of 10 but they never made the other 9. The story I was told is that the Matthew Mcconaughey Foundation wanted to auction it off but the guy that owns it wasn't interested in doing that. If we take it I am thinking I will call this foundation and tell them I will be auctioning it and I would like to donate our commission to them if it sells. It would be a big item for us and it might could draw us a crowd that will bid on other things. I would be happy just to add it to my list of sold items. It sure wouldn't hurt. I haven't actually seen it pull up yet though so I am not holding my breath. I have only seen the pictures so far.

Crochet hooks and button-hooks are VERY different things.

Crochet hooks are small and sharp, for catching yarn and thread when you're doing needlework, or repairing clothing.

A button-hook was used for doing up the buttons on your boots or gloves. It's impossible to do up (or undo) the wrist-buttons on your gloves, once you have the gloves ON your hands. Hence the hook - which was used to catch the buttonhole and stretch it over the button and pull it on (and vice-versa later on - to pull it off). Same concept with boots.

While some people these days do still wear gloves (I have two pairs of leathers; one black, one brown, which are invaluable in winter-time!), most people don't wear gloves with buttons anymore, so they're probably unaware of how these things are actually used.

They were also used for shoe buttons.

My late grandfather (who died in the early 80s, before my time) owned an ANCIENT pocket-knife which my grandmother used to keep (God knows where it is now).

Among its, perhaps six or seven different things packed inside it...was a button-hook. I couldn't remember everything else, but I remember really clearly it had its own button-hook. A real sign of just HOW old a pocket-knife it was.
