I got a box of old pins the other day - mostly political. This one was in there. It's 4" across. It looks like the work of Dr. Seuss to me. I know that Geisel did advertising and commercial art. What do you think?

It does look very Seuss-y. I tried some googling and image searching with no luck.

Me, too! And all kinds of slogan possibilities...
    What is it saying?
You poor fish? Bottom-feeder? What are some fish-related insults or sayings? Whom do fish represent or... ???????

Sucker? Isn't there a fish called a sucker? That's my best guess at the moment.

You poor fish was an expression kind of like "you poor sap", I believe.

Most of the references I've found have been from around the 1920s.

That's all I've been able to find too, from about 1916 - 1920s.

There is a graph at the link below showing the frequency the "poor fish" phrase was used in print between 1800-2008. It peaked 1933, and then fell off.
    Poor fish:
a person lacking intelligence or common sense

The fish drawing looks very Dr. Seuss-ish to me, too. I got sidetracked on what the heck is the message.:joyful:
