    This ring is signed Judith Ripka & is 925 sterling. The stones around the center stone are, I assume, are CZ's since it is also marked THAILAND CZ. Can I safely call the center stone Topaz or should I just leave it at a neutral large oval dark blue faceted stone?

    A topaz usually shows definite pleochroism, a flash of other colours (rainbow) when you move it about. She seems to use topaz. Best have it tested though.
    I thought it was a smoky quartz first, but that is the ring stand showing through.:shame: What shade of blue is it?

    Yes, have it tested, unless you do there is no way you can safely sell it as topaz.

    It is a dark blue color, but it shows no other colors when moved about in the sunlight.

    I'll take it with me to the auction tomorrow night. One of my buddies, who was not there when I bought this ring, has a gem tester he brings with him all the time. I will report back with his results.

    Thanks AJ & Marie!!! :kiss::kiss: :happy::happy::happy:

    I'd have it checked; that might even be a low grade sapphire.

    The stone didn't even move the meter so it will be described as a large oval dark blue faceted stone. :p:p:p
