This could just as well be on the Laughable dBoo listings thread, but since it requires a little specialty knowledge to appreciate fully:

Gregorian NATHANIEL MARCHANT Gold INTAGLIO ATHENA Pendant Brooch Cameo 1790-1820

They are correct about Marchant's having been one of the best of his time, although not sure it was ruinous to commission work from him.

There's definitely something hinky with that one, but I'm not expert enough to know what it is besides the glass intaglio.

It kind of looks like the intaglio was maybe larger oveall and cut down, but at an angle. Normally the figure would be straight in the setting.

It's a glass impression that derives from an actual engraved gem. Not likely to be a direct copy, so a copy of a copy of a...

Bluumz wins the lollipop. With all that text expounding on Marchant & glyptics and then to call it 'Gregorian' in both text & title... Not to mention the unfounded assertion that the glass impression dates to Marchant's time. A friend uses the term 'over described' for something like this. It almost always ends up making seller look silly.

Is she trying to balance tea cups and saucers on her various body parts?

I've heard of Ponytail Girl, but Teacup Girl? That's just ... weird. They look like the flower candy teacups from Willy Wonka, only uglier.

He's one of the painters who makes the cut of notable Italian men who are popular for lava cameos. Off the top of my head I know he's not one from the first string, but there are so many.

@Bronwen.....what about @bluumz trying a needle point to get in the roses for those black spots??? Tiny enough it shouldn't do damage yet might move the stubborn black stuff????

It can be tried, very carefully. A slip of the tip & you've created a scratch that will then eventually discolor.
