Looks like a mug to me, with that handle, but has the narrow opening up top. Also the top part has surface chipping. It was labeled as an oil lantern base, but I have not found anything similar in searching, but I am probably not using the right search terms. The bottom of the glass has a swirl look to it, and the center of that almost looks like the letter "C" or "G", but it may be just the way the glass is swirled?
Any help and thoughts are greatly appreciated, thanks for your time.:cat:
P.S. Look at the ant that snuck its way into the top picture!:D I was taking the pictures outside...

I looked through Oil Lamps 2 by Thuro and didn't see it.
Maybe it is a syrup missing the lid?

great solve! too bad about the missing lid/spout. I'm not aware of a source for replacement parts, but maybe you could find a broken/damaged EAPG syrup with a top that can be salvaged. The tops are held in place with dental plaster; so soak to soften and remove and replace with fresh plaster.

The treatment on the bottom is called "cut shut".

Sadly I did not make a note of who gave me this information:
The piece was pressed upside down, with the bottom open like a funnel. A small diameter extension poked the hole in what is now the top, from the inside. After the piece was removed from the mold, it was picked up in a "snap", a devise to allow the workers to manipulate the piece. Once snapped up, it was warmed in, (reheated in the glory hole) and the bottom was tooled shut, excess glass was twisted off leaving the swirl on the bottom. The process is called "cut shut."

It coulda been me, I've typed something like that several times. Sometimes its found "cut and shut." Its a process used from small items like cruets to water bottles. Also on oil lamp tops. It allows the manufacturer to press an piece (easy) then close it on top (or on bottom) to make something like blown wares. Saves money on production costs.
