I have recently purchased this Theodore B. Starr Bowl from a local thrift shop. It appeared to be sterling silver by the markings on the bottom and the lack of any "green" anywhere on this aged piece. I am looking for any information on what it is and its value. If you can help, it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

This is what I know about it....

    Weight: 980g
Maker-Theodore B. Starr of New York
Size: 10.5 inches wide and 5.5 inches tall
    Made In: 1880-1920

Is that maker information from the tag at the thrift? That doesn't look like the Starr marks I'm familiar with.

And I have to ask - I know you just got so you probably don't know, but the picture of the inside looks like it's been abused. Maybe someone kept a very wet plant in it for a long time? Is that a trick of the picture or is that white stuff actually there?

Here is some information I found on the RWB mark - Richard Woodman Burbidge, managing director of Harrods. I don't know the other marks.
Wait for the folks that know silver to come along.

Interesting, CXgirl. Wish they had a picture if the mark they're talking about to compare to this one.

It bears London import marks - brought in for sale at Harrod's...

I'm on my phone, but looks like 1962 to me too - suspect the bowl was more likely retailed rather than manufactured by Starr...

Bakersgma - Thank you for your reply. The white stuff is actually there. Its almost a hardened powder it seems. The whole inner part of the bowl is covered in it.

I finally zoomed in far enough to see the upside-down Theodore B Starr in the final picture.

Well that is as shame, JTR. I hope it was cheap.

The bottom of the bowl is stamped 'Theodore B. Starr'. I have searched some of his other pieces that show the same stamp. As for the RWB, I am unsure of their meaning at this time.

Ok, great, thank you for your help. So does that mean that it is not a Theodore B. Starr piece? Or a reproduction? Or even sterling for that matter? I am new to this haha.

Busy - perhaps someone else will explain what's going on with this piece, a nice buy (please don't try to remove the water deposit yourself)...
