Need Help Identifying This Brass Handle w/ Threaded Stem & 2 Sided "FF" Emblem (Firefighter?)

This solid brass handle was included in the bottom of a box of vintage motorcycle parts, car trim, specialty tools, and oil cans. We are not sure what this was attached to. Normally we are able to track down the origin/purpose of stuff we find. If anyone has any ideas as to what this was attached to, we would greatly appreciate the help identifying! A picture is attached.

The handle comfortably fits 1 standard-issue human hand. There is a threaded stem bolt (like 1/4"?) but there is also a brass retainer nut allowing one to use another bolt up to maybe 1/2" dia. There is light corrosion on the existing non-brass bolt up to a point which it appears to have been threaded into something. There is a raised "FF" shield emblem on the base of both sides. It's heavy and appears to be solid brass.

At first glance, it appears as if it could have been for an old-style fire extinguisher, or perhaps a firefighter "indian tank", or something on an actual fire engine. But all the images I found had different style handles, or were not as "robust".

I agree.........Reminds me of a handle from an old pump type fire extinguisher........ but could be a handle to any kind of pump mechanism.

Holy crap thanks! I didn't see that unit in searches, I was even diving into garden sprayers and stuff. Above and beyond narrowing it down to Fyr-Fyter (Cited from: https://www.antiquers.com/threads/n...ded-stem-2-sided-ff-emblem-firefighter.45459/). Appreciate all the time and help, TY.

 

Could this hammer be the fire extinguisher glass cabinet breaker for the Fyre-Fyter? This was found in the same box. We initially thought it was some kind of specialty/tack hammer, or plunker for some kinda small part. More photos attached.

The ends are solid disks, but the head is cast like a log (including a branch knot and bark textures). There are 3 holes down the handle, but there is no hole at the very end of the hammer, as glass breakers we have seen have had.

It might be totally unrelated, but it's about the right size and shape (minus the holes). Thanks again for your time. We will try to identify around the forums too

It’s a nut hammer/ nutcracker, went with a bowl that had an nut anvil in the middle, like this.

 

Hah, that is hilarious. Never would have expected that one, no wonder i didnt see any. I was looking in all kinds of other areas (glass cracker, automotive, machinist, etc). Thanks again i owe you guys!

 

I still have that bowl! The hammer is smaller, but similar. My mother always put it out during the holidays - I remember it from the 50s at least. Now my son has it.
