    Hi

New to forum folks, so apologies if this isn't the right place to post.

I am trying to identify marks on a pot, which I think is Japanese. I have scrolled through pages and pages of marks without success.

Does anyone know the mark please ?

Hi and welcome! Could you post a photo of the piece? It might help give someone a direction to look.

Looks like a very stylized Kutani mark.

Just for fun, these are purported to be Kutani...

    I myself have no idea...

The mark may well be kutani, but your picture is sideways and too small, even when I click on it. If you rotate it a quarter clockwise, then look at gotheborg.com under Japanese marks (on the left) your chances improve, anyway.

Hi, is that you responding to GalleriaGila's slightly mocking post, or that you have positively identified the vase and marks as being Kutani ?

Oh, my gosh... I'm so sorry. I would never mock, purposefully. I was truly trying to help. If I offended, please forgive me.

    GGila,
Sorry, poor choice of word on my part. I meant mocking in a gentle way. I was just trying to figure out if khl889 was convinced of it's origin :)

If KHL says its Kutani, it is Kutani

You'll find plenty of Kutani marks over on the Bouvier site.

    http://www.kutani.org/Seal/s_list_kutani.htm

The first two characters are obviously 九谷 slightly stylized.

In any event, just look at the items themselves.

You have my eternal gratitude. I think my sanity was at risk scrolling through pages and pages of marks.

    Many, many thanks

Hello, CH51. This thread has been untouched for over 4 years and your guys look like they deserve a thread of their own.

If you have any trouble starting a thread for them, just ask. Looks like you've got attaching pictures down, though.
