Some are authenticated as very old, like this. http://www.sittingbull.org/p/history-of-sitting-bull-and-his-sioux.html Sperls... here's a start... if you Google "Lakota Village with courting couple", you'll see some fun finds... maybe you'll locate some clues. (photos 1-3). Of course, one of our NA brainiacs may just take a glance and tell you what you have exactly! EDIT Some are authenticated as quite old... I recognize a few words from the Lakota language; wicasa means man..... English to Lakota dictionaries: http://www.bearhawk.net/pages/wordsearch.html and http://worldnativesunited.tribe.net/thread/be72a379-5ad2-46a5-a64f-d23374b08d90
PL Bowles, an Englishman. http://www.tipis.org/peter_bowles.htm "He was given the name 'Ikce Wicasa Ecetkiya Wawowa' which, loosely translated means 'Paints Like The Natural Man'."
Damn...All great help & great answers!!...Nice to have this!!...Not Old...But,Mick Jagger own one!!...WOW!!
I'd think it has to be after 1991, since the artist was not given the name 'Ikce Wicasa Ecetkiya Wawowa' until then. So, maybe 25 years old. The artist does a nice version of the old-style drawings.
