Info on mirror please?

Can someone give me any info on this mirror. Maybe date and value?

 

I love when folks take photo's of mirrors....and show up in the reflection..!!

Could you tell us what size it is please ?
( & a shot of the rear would be nice too !..)

 

It is basically a French Louis XVI style mirror but I also get a bit of a Beaux arts feel to it with that exaggerated garland draping and medallion at the top. A look at the back would help to determine age. Based on what I can see, I am thinking no earlier than the 50s and possibly as much as 2-3 decades later.

Oh and it's 36" wide and 40" tall.

 

The hardware isn't old but that could have been added on later.

The glass looks recent. Speaking of vibes, I would guess first couple decades of the 1900s. The decoration looks to be molded gesso. Any little bit of damage you could get a pic of? The frames I remember from the '70s and '80s were molded from composite.

 

True - looks "newer" (70's/80's ?) tying to be made to look "older". The back of the top piece looks to be made from a composite/plywood material - kinda like the sheet of plywood it is leaning against.

 

On the things I worked with, that top motif would not have had backing and would have been cast as a single unit.

 

I think a bit earlier than I first thought. Maybe as early as the 20s and on into the 40s. I also think the mirror has been replaced. It is possible that the front has been refinished as well. The shading seen on the front is why I initially thought newer.

Those pics sure make it look like composite wood solution poured into a mold with a back up of plywood!
It (the moisture in the wood composite fiber) dried out too fast causing the cracks!

 

So what do you think the value is at this point?
