Asian tapestry? Textile? Help!

This isn't normally my wheelhouse but I had the opportunity to buy this asian textile when I was buying some other antiques and I quite love it. Could anyone point me in the right direction towards figuring out what this is and how old it might be? The previous owner didn't know anything about it.

Please edit your photos to "all full size" so we don't have to open thumbnails which are difficult to zoom in on.

Does one side work as a hanger? If so, it may be an altar frontal.

It'd be a good idea to find a cylinder to roll it around... Avoid folding it.

Please tell us what size it is. It looks like it might be Chinese, though the colors are unusual. It would help to have some good closeups so we can see the weaving technique. Front and back of a corner would be good, so we can see how the edges are finished.

Thanks for your comments everyone! Sorry about the pics. For all I know it could be a modern cushion cover purchased from Winners. I agree that it's a brocade, not a tapestry. I'll take some more pics later. It is probably nothing of value in the end, but I just find it so curious!

It came folded and I think it was stored that way for a long while. There is some small damage along that crease. For now it is being stored flat.

 

Is it possible to load a close-up of the threads?

 

That was my wonder regarding the fibers....it 'feels' like silk at this point?
