    Hi all

Bought this pretty silver bracelet. Hallmarked for sterling but I don't think it has a date mark, I assume European, maybe a UK import mark?

I think it's from the Art Deco period, would that be correct?

Very pretty, Ratsy. The red stones could be glass, did you test them?
Sorry, no, not with the scales mark in the centre, that is pretty recent.
Here is some info on the mark, different countries joined the convention at different dates, and more and more are joining:

Stones could also be tourmaline - I had several bracelets and rings that were classified as garnets until I tested them. If you don't have a gem tester, take them to a local jeweler.

Ratsy, could you clean the mark on the left? Maybe that will tell is which country it was made in. My guess would also be a European country, at the moment the only non-European member of the convention is Israel.

I just noticed, the site spells Hungary as Hungry. Things are not well with Orban at the helm.;) Maybe we should send food parcels.

I bet it's Italian. There's a lot of that decent repro Deco stuff made there.

Deco in sensibility but I was getting a new vibe even before seeing the mark. I just used a marcasite set square toggle clasp on something I put together. It has a very similar look to the links here & was bought in the last 15 years.

I adore tourmalines & they do come in a rainbow of colors, but this would be a shade I have never seen. Are the faceted stones as orange as I'm seeing them on the screen? Spessartite garnet or glass would be my votes.

Thanks all. The stones I am not certain about. I assumed garnets but could be wrong, I haven't had them tested. They are slightly (dark) orange in colour.

I cleaned the hallmarks, the mark on the left looks like JL, and the right a panther head. But s panther head would have to have a Lion Passant right?

You're assuming it's British, which it isn't, imo.

I'd check Norwegian. David Andersen and others.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Looks like JL in the small left rectangle, and scales on either side of the large 925........is that a small bird to the far right???? Aaand now don't think a bird in other pics.........sry.....

Looks like a poorly struck London leopard-head to me - Phil shows a similar unknown London 'JL' sponsor mark, found on a 1977 imported box:

    Extremely unlikely to be Norwegian...

Agree. Nothing about it says Norway to me.
