    Hawaiian 'uli'uli (feathered gourd rattles) are more commonly made with red and yellow feathers (the colors of Hawaiian royalty), but sometimes you see them with these brown chicken feathers.

    The top, in this case is made from Fijiian tapa cloth. Traditionally they would be made from Hawaiian tapa, which looks different, but is seldom made anymore. But the 'uli'uli itself is a Hawaiian hula instrument, not found in Fiji.
