Grand Rapids Furniture Company?

Hello,

I am looking for some help obtaining some information about a table I just acquired. It is a small rectangular side table with a round brass ID tag that lists the manufacturer as Grand Rapids Furniture Company. I have had little luck in finding any information about the company, other than it may have been an offshoot of the New England Furniture Company around 1904. Any info that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Chris, there is actually a lot of info out there about Grand Rapids Furniture Co. (Try Google and Google Books.) It was a good-sized operation known for rather decent furniture back in the first part of the 20th century.

Grand Rapids, Michigan must have been quite a furniture manufacturing center. I have a barrister bookcase made by a different company with a factory there.

 

Grand Rapids was at one time the "furniture capital" of the U.S. The O.P.'s table appears to have been made ca. 1940. I have a smoking stand with similar trim dated 1942.
