Featured Old photos - lighthouse and men with a surfboat

I think I posted these before. 5x7 postcards. My aunt had these in her collection. She was from NH and lived there all her life so most of her collection are of New England places. Some are ones that her relatives and pen pals sent her. This looks like Cape Cod, but could actually be New York, New Jersey or anyplace. Nothing on the back of the lighthouse. The photographer info is on the back of the surfboat.

 

Right after I posted this, I got a google hit on Henry S. Wyer. He photographed Nantucket extensively and I think that's Sankaty Lighthouse. Answered my own question. Last time I tried to find him, there were no hits. Go figure.

 

Just emailed the Nantucket Historical Association to see if they want them. It's definitely Sankaty and they have a glass plate negative that they thought was Wyer, but weren't sure. Now they can be sure.

 

Sounds interesting -- update the thread if anything else happens with this.

 

Love lighthouse pics - this lighthouse is 7 minutes down the road from me on Lake Erie - Lorain Light house. Made the patterns for the railings that were cast at O'keef's Casting Co in Lorain. First pic is mine, 2nd pic is from the internet to show the railing around it.

 

Always reminded me of this - My Dad was a merchant marine!!

The Nantucket folks have digitized images of these so they don't want them.
