Featured A suitcase full of postcards

I was inspired to open the old suitcase and start sorting. My mother's oldest sister was born in 1894. She loved postcards and developed penpals from different places in order to swap. She also collected silent film star photos and autographs. I have a scrapbook full of Rudolph Valentino clippings. Also his book. Did you know he wrote poetry? Anyway, I inherited this falling-apart suitcase. The postcards range in date from 1914 to the 1970s. Some were mailed and some are blank. Several hundred. This was my entertainment today. The military ones were from my Mom when she was in the Army 1943 to 1945. .

Can I come stay for about a week and help you go through them, Bev? Naw, nevermind, I have a wall to paint this week! That looks like so much fun. And nostalgia. And smiles.

I wish we ladies all lived really close... we could have a few sleepovers at Bev's, and play with all her postcards... I mean RESEARECH... RESEARCH her cards!

Abuela... that's his cage door, swung open... he has perches of various shapes and diameters (for foot health) and textures (for beak preening/trimming) and colors (for his amusement).

 

oohhhhhh. Looks like the handle to something designed by that famous architect/designer who created housewares for Target (whose name has left the building of my brain!! )
