Featured Eeerrrrggghhh, please stop me !!

I haven't even hung the others up that I bought , then I find this one today ! Its madness I tell you ! Its very naïve , and I think its a copy of a famous painting , but I love the colors . I found one painting signed by the same guy , same style , but they knew nothing either . Its 11x9 ,oil on canvas , and was so filthy I almost left it behind ! Distilled water and 30 cotton balls later I was thrilled with the outcome . Any input is always appreciated .

 

I love it. Is it Latal? No idea but it's really cool.

The only name I could find was a Czech puppetmaker named Stanislav Latal. That might give you a direction to search.

 

The back of that Noah's Ark painting has this so I think it's Lilian Latal.

Wow ! Thanks ! I found that painting on some blog , but how did I miss it for that auction ? I googled her and so far no info , but Im thrilled to know who did it ! Many thanks for everyones help .

 

I'd be the last one to frown on peoples choices in art. You should see some of what I've dragged home (or actually you probably shouldn't)

 

If you look at the address at the bottom of that tag it has a different last name. I can't read it though. Something long and maybe starting with an "F".

 

Could be the owners name and not the artist

I did a reverse phone lookup of the number on the bottom of the tag and it says it's associated with Lillian Levy in FL.

Well, three Lilians. I use my maiden name on my paintings. Maybe she's using her married name and was remarried.

 

I don't know though, googling reverse phone numbers might or might not be right. I also might not be reading the number right but interesting it has the same first name (give or take an "l").

 

The provenance on that Noahs ark painting has a florida association , and I bought mine in fla , maybe we are getting warmer ! Thanks so much for the help , I really love her work now !
