    If you look at the example B notes in the link, you will see that the letter on Minerva's head is called a C, but the open side of the C is facing down in the picture (meaning that the bottom side of the C is on the left. This implies that the letter on yours is an A.

    Yep, A is Amsterdam #1. Amsterdam had two offices.:rolleyes:

    The maker's mark looks like JIW? Or IW with a symbol over it? Neither options are in my database.:sorry:

    The A being for Amsterdam is because Amsterdam had the main assay offices, not because Amsterdam starts with an A.;) Rotterdam is a D, for instance, and Schoonhoven an M.

    This has been tentatively I.D. As
    Possibly Simon Woortman. A swan over SW.
    @Any Jewelry, let me know if you would like a printed copy of the mark for your records.

    Would love to have it, thank you.:kiss: The mark sounds right, and he seems to have specialized in spoons and servers.

    This is what I found in Dutch:
    Simon Woortman, Amsterdam, ca 1815 - 1844.
    Meesterteken : zwaantje boven SW in vierkant = Master (maker's) mark : swan over SW in a square.
