Hi ALL!! My Sister-in-Law was wondering what this table was used for.....the underside is a conundrum of complexities......SORRY Af for the bad pictures....it's where it was sitting and best I could do...even with flash. Dimensions are on the full picture. In looking at the underside...it at some point was a tilt-top as the one end shot shows from the two round knobs at the top of the pic. But someone screwed the top down!! HOWEVER, the most perplexing part is the 4 pulleys in each end of the table base!!! We have all scratched our brains to try and figure it out.....it all looks to be old....BUT the top of the table makes the two top pulleys inoperable....the bottom pulleys turn freely.....so the only thing we can come up with is that someone was being very frugal and managed to 'marry up' two completely UN-related items.......ANY AND ALL INPUT is MOST welcome!!!!! I have a feeling I know what y'all are going to say, but it's nice to be backed up!!!! TIA!!!!!!!

Could the bottom have been for running some type of saw..???

But, am I right in that the top just doesn't belong to it???

Doesn't seem to be the same wood with the same age and finish so I'd suppose no.

I'd expect the top to have held some type of equipment...and there would have been holes or openings in it...

Maybe a drafting table? The pulleys may have raised and lowered the top somehow.

Thought that too but couldn't rationalize it.
Unless the top was very heavy.

Interesting thoughts ALL!!!! I'm still perplexed though!!!! No holes in the top, and the top pulleys became non-functioning once the top was................locked down?
AND THANK YOU EVERYONE for ALL of your INPUT!!!!!!
