Just in case someone's looking here but never looks in the Give Aways category, there arr free postcards, Victorian trade cards, and other ephemera posted there. :)

Do you have photos of the other Mass. shoe store cards? I'm just wondering if they formed some kind of ongoing narrative, and figured I'd clutter up this thread rather than cluttering up the other.

Oh, not clutter at all! :)

Unless they're images from a fantasy story, or a series of stories in a book, I don't think they're related. I'll look for the scans I had of the others and post them here.

I think that's all I had... it was fun looking at the cards again since most sold a long time ago. Thanks for asking to see them, moreotherstuff! :)

I really love these cards, but they were actually a somewhat hard sell since many buyers are looking for a particular product or location.

They are unique. I hadn't noticed what the writing said. A good gimmick to get kids (and parents) to want to return to the store - and maybe pick up a new pair of shoes while there.

Exactly. Many Victorian trade cards were beautiful or interesting, but they were always selling something.

Thanks for showing them. I have shamelessly downloaded the pictures.

I wonder how many cards were in the full series. I suppose you could find the same cards advertising other businesses.

I particularly like the one with the bubbles(?).

I like that one a lot, too.

Cards like this were issued as blanks, with just the image, and the business either stamped their info onto it, or had a printer add the info. On these, the printing obviously wasn't done very well.

Pat, I just received my packet about 1/2 hour ago. I LOVE the cards and advert. The postcards look so pristine. You also pack very well. Thank you soooooo much .
