    Hi everyone,

I wondered if anyone would have information on where I could market a set of scales that my parents have put to auction?

The scales were left to my father by my late uncle after languishing in the back of a garage for many years. All of the original parts are in moving working order however there is some degree of restoration required. They are similar to a restored set of scales that sold at Sotheby's in December 2014 for $75,000 - http://www.sothebys.com/en/auctions/ecatalogue/2014/important-20th-c-design-n09238/lot.386.html
The auction for our scales is DELETED

If anyone has any ideas on where I could generate interest in these scales that would be great.

    Kind regards,
    Lisa Ballantine

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

Seems like you're trying to do that right here.

You could also inform any and all UK antique dealers..of the event .

It appears that you have provided your own answer.

Though with a lot estimate of $6,000 - $8,000 that's quite a jump for an unnamed quantity.

My curiosity is much more aroused.
I posted a reply here 42 hours ago. No further posts, but this convoluted request still sits as new. Any special reason for that?

Or is that LIsa's question appears to include a typo adding an extra zero to the hammer price?

If still here when I scroll by again I'll try the report button for the first time unless someone else already has.

Hi, there was no typo in the post; as the link to Sotheby's page shows the scales did indeed sell for $75k (even with a guide of 6-8k).

We have decided to put our scales to auction on ebay and hopefully generate some interest in the US as that is where we believe the market to be for them.

Now listed on eBay if anyone is interested. Many thanks.
