I'm not entirely sure whether this is the right section for this question, so if it's not, kindle point me to right direction ;) .

So we have this ivory figurine. Of course, it has been obtained legally under the Washington treaty, but we know very little about it. Any ideas on what it represents and what do the symbols stand for? Thanks for any help in advance.

Another that shows the bottom with mark and estimate, but no results. I would take it straight to an expert or auction house who knows the differences and can authenticate and value it.

    627. A Chinese Stained Ivory Figure of a Sleeping Lohan, robed male figure carved seated with his head resting on his upturned knees, base with apocryphal Ming mark, height 4 7/8 in. $500/700

    I'm a little puzzled - Oh, never Mind! :)

This should probably have been posted to Antiques :)

Thanks everyone for your input. It was invaluable as we have a bit more experience with paintings than figurines. On Monday, this particular figurine comes back to us from evaluation so maybe we will be able to share a little bit more information on it.
