Upon googling/researching this piece I found one that sold on eBay last year (for a nice sum). More or less identical...except different metal color and different raised 'medallion' (is that a good term to use?). Could this really be of a Victorian age (I have my doubts)? Anyone care to hazard a guess on the metal...maybe gold filled at best? I can provide more better photos if necessary (sorry for the rinky-dink background). Here is a link to the sold piece: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Glorious-An...t-/221725073884?&_trksid=p2056016.m2518.l4276
And here are pics of mine...as always thanks for looking and any words of wisdom!!! IMG_1653[1].JPG IMG_1655[1].JPG IMG_1656[1].JPG IMG_1654 (1024x765).jpg IMG_1658 (1024x765).jpg

None that I can find. And I haven't weighed it yet but it feels substantial.

My guess would be 1950s Victorian Revival. The construction is all wrong for Victorian jewelry. It doesn't look like gold either.

I wonder if that seller had to take a return.

It appears that your necklace and the one in your example were made by the same maker. Same clasp, same bale, same construction of the necklace links.

The clasp is the tell on your necklace and the example given. That type of clasp was not used on Victorian jewelry. Not 100% sure, but I think the time frame for that clasp is about 1940 -1960.

I think late 50s early 60s for your necklace.
    Possibly gold plate.

Thanks everyone for your input! It confirms my initial suspicions. Vintage Victorian Revival it is (possibly made in France)!

I wouldn't state possibly made in France.
A good portion of costume jewelry from the US in the mid century and earlier was not marked by manufacture.

Yeah, I was sort of joking about that (in reference to david heller III's comment about "being marketed as french souvenirs").
