I have the sides for 2 complete benches. Only the one seat, though. I'm curious what you experts have to say about them. Thanks in advance for any replies, and let me know if you need more pics of any areas.

Are all of the screws the "Phillips head" / crosshead type?

I found a 12 on one of the legs and a 2 on another. Looks like corrosion has hidden any others. I've also provided more zoomed in pics so you and others can gauge a bit more of the construction/design.

Also a good question, Sabre. No, only one of the lion's head bench legs has those screws. The other one is what I'm attaching in this picture (bolts?). Same goes for the other bench (no crosshead screws).

What are the measurements for the piece you are calling "the seat?" Can you tell how it would have been attached to the side(s)?

More great inquiries. Roughly 9" x 43." I'm not sure how it would fit, but I'll bet the metal attachments on the one have something to do with it.

There is only one end unit that has "metal attachments?" or did you misspeak? If the attachments are the small black protrusions seen in the picture in your post #12, they cannot attach to the pieces you are calling seats because they are only present where the "bacK" of the bench would be positioned - and you apparently do not have any back pieces (unless you have neglected to mention them.)

There are two smaller end units (architectural support arms) with the lions heads; they both have thin metal extending from them. Also, one of them looks newer and blacker, as if it were sanded a bit and spray painted. The part I'm calling a seat may be a back and may go with the larger pair of end units, which have heart designs. I hope that makes sense. Oh and I think I found the larger ones online as well. https://www.ebay.com/itm/302963811526.

    Hi,
I have seen many examples where the seats are made of wood slats instead of metal. Just a guess.

All I know is that I would not want to try to sit comfortably on a piece of metal only 9 inches front to back that also had a three-dimensional design in it.

lol! Me neither! I think more interesting than these is an old bird bath I picked up a few months ago. I'll have to get some pics of that on this site after Christmas.

Look like carriage bolts. The Phillips was probably used as a repair.
