I have no clue. I bought them because they were a) cheap, which I am b) weird, also me and c) promised to tell the seller what they are if I find out.

Brass, bakelite handles. The separate metal thingie may be utterly unrelated.

I love weird! Tool to remove potato eyes? Perhaps grapefruit seeds? Please note - I spend as little time in the kitchen as possible. :)

The brass one is ringing bells - rug hooking whatsit? The other I haven't the faintest.

Do the wires pop out of the brass pieces when the brass or handle is turned? They look like there is some variation in length - is that an optical illusion?

Both the same length. The wire bit in one just pulls out and the handle won't turn. I don't think rug hook, I've had those.

The second item is probably a vintage crochet hook case. If you pull gently on the loop on the end, it should pull apart, revealing usually 3 various size crochet hooks folded back in the insert.

That's actually what I was thinking, just not what came out. I've actually done the latch hook thing, but not the punch type.

Is there a groove in the bakelite handle that we're NOT QUITE seeing??? Even though I'm agreeing with @clutteredcloset49 on this.....at least the brass & bakelite!

Curious if the handle unscrews and if so what is it hiding?

    No, doesn't unscrew.

I do believe that rug punch wins, that looks spot on. The same seller had a couple or the latch type pulls, I'm used to those - she didn't know what those were, either, but I did.

    Thanks folks¬

Did you pull apart the second piece to see if it revealed crochet hooks folded inside?
