Wooden Plaque 17 1/2 inches wide, 10 1/2 inches top to bottom, what is it?

    Not for food....(LOL) Venus, looks like. Maybe it's just so thirteen year-old boys in the house can stare at some boobies without getting yelled at?

    Hi,
    Looks like a panel from a door. Since it is removed, it is hard to say what kind of furniture it came from originally.

    A bit odd to have wood on wood, so I'm thinking the "carving" may be made of composition. The roundness of edges on the figure suggests that too. Check carefully to see what the "carving" part is made of, and u might learn it is a casting.

    Looks like Aquarius - usually portrayed as a woman pouring water out of a container. I agree with spring - the center portion looks like some kind of molded material.

    Reminds me of the center of one of those deeply carved tables with glass tops from Asia. Some early ones were done in the West but the wood on yours and the quality of the carving strikes me as more like one of the ones common from the Philippines.

    Here is a version with more refined carving than yours exhibits but the same idea of what I am talking about......
