    Quite a stoic couple.

But if the tide comes in any further they will both literally be swept away.

    My mom and dad...
They loved each other dearly; but they had no freaking clue what they were in for. :)

Still have it in storage, but haven't had a chance to look it over yet. I hope it's in good shape!

Considering the equivalent life span, this is technically a vintage picture and one of my very favorite weddings.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

Well, I know this is an OLDER link, but was looking up CDV cards which became Cabinet Cards and came across ANOTHER Wedding party which looks more like a funeral party with the bland and saddish expressions!!!! Note the black wedding dress which Wiki said was quite fashionable in the mid to nineteenth century!!!!

Aquitane, that is a very interesting dress on the bride.

I don't recall ever seeing horizontal tucks/pleats across a portion of the lower edge of a bodice.

I do like the large(r) pleats across a portion of the front bottom of the dress. The ribbon/sash running diagonally across the skirt portion of the dress (ending with large bow) is also a first for me. ;)

Just curious but . . . have others here seen such embellishments placed the same way on dresses in old photographs????

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

Now that you point that stuff out, YourTurn, that IS interesting. Somehow I imagine that it was either a high-end fancy-schmancy job, or a talented amateur with wild ideas...

Hmmmm, GaleriaGila, thinking about that makes me wonder if . . . surely that "bride's" dress is not so old that at one point it "required" a hoop.

Then again . . . what if it was her mother's dress (wedding or otherwise) which had to be "altered"/"diminished" some way to fit a second-generation bride years later.;)
