So I got these with those 2 pretty little male/female hand made wall 'shelves' by Vi Tambley.
The flower graphic bottle I cannot find on eBidet.
Who knows what about them please?
And...should I clean them out or leave them alone?

Also, crocheting can be addictive. You will crochet anything you can, every chance you get. They start to pile up. Scarves are about the most useful item you can crochet; how many is too much? Hopefully you have family and friends you can gift some to (but not everyone appreciates crochet items). There are doilies; I personally have crocheted dozens (with thread; they are beautiful and a ton of fun to make). I think I only have 2 actually in use. So some of the crocheted tire covers I have seen are really just gigantic doilies. Yay!! A doily you can actually put to good use!

 

It was a great dollhouse and it was in pretty darn good condition but I did end up selling it at the flea market. It would have been a bear to ship anywhere as it was biggggg.

I don't see just cleaning them, as hurting in any way.

 

Last week must have been vase week for me. All from the thrift stores.

This blue vase is probably modern. Asian? It has a dead matte micro-crystalline glaze on a hard white porcelain-like body. Bought for a buck!


I keep thinking I see something under the glaze here but, the more I look, the less I see...... LOL!


Had to pay a whole $3.00 for this early Nippon/Noritake vase. It has some wear to the gilt and a couple manufacturing flaws but is good otherwise.



Not sure if this is as originally made. The insert fits perfectly but the proportions seem a bit off. This was $1.00. I bought a second one in an ornate silverplate base for the same price but gave it to a friend.



This is only 4" tall but has age and charm. Bought for 50 cents.



My non-vase purchase was this set of three art plaques. Not in the best of shape but could not leave them sit for $2.50.

Brad... for your item with the insert that you were questioning. How about a candle holder that has a base with a hurricane-type glass insert. This is a chubby example, more like for a pillar, but I have seen at least one that was for a standard candle.

KOT - Your bottles were sold empty to be filled with your own perfume. The flowered bottle is probably c.1970s, but the company was in business much earlier that then. A lot of the bottles that are attributed to DeVilbiss on ebay were actually sold by this company.

The other bottle is much more recent & probably came out of China.

The easiest way to get rid of the perfume gunk is with regular alcohol. You may want to be careful to avoid getting it on the outside of the flowered bottle to avoid damage to the design & the label. Just let it sit for an hour or 2 & every once in a while give it a little shake to swish things around. The nice part about using alcohol is it will evaporate on its own & you don't have to try & dry the inside of the bottle.

Thanks for the thought Gila but I don't see something like this working. Most such things need an opening at least as large as for a standard candle or larger. The opening on this is only 5/8" diameter so not much will fit in to it. It is definitely an old hardwood turning that is at least as old as the insert and, possibly, older. While the insert fits perfectly, it just seems rather small for such a large base.

Honestly, though, until I read what you wrote about it, I thought it was just lovely as is.

 

It might be right but I would like some other opinions. I can't say I have ever seen a glass insert like this in a wood base.

 

I thought that whole crocheting/knitting everything in sight was all over and done with!!!!!! HA!!!

OMG!!!! So many of those covers are SO STUNNING!!!!! ALMOST makes me want to trade in my "Subie" to get an outside tire

 

I wouldn't have any place to put it anyway. And my grandsons are he-man-macho boys, so they wouldn't appreciate it. But it's nice to see one again!

 

My first garage sale stop this year. Many have been listed but don't sound worth going to. Mostly toddler crap types.

The lighter fluid and pinbacks were in the free bin. Lighter fluid half full. Spoons a buck each.

 

Wonder how long it's been since Shell sold such a thing.

LF has gotten quite expensive. I use it to remove labels. I'm always hoping to pick up some garage saleing along with tape and especially, strapping tape.
