I purchased this ring a few weeks ago and I'm trying to figure out the maker mark. The ring is stamped 14K and has a maker mark and has an emerald green unknown stone in it that is either glass, synthetic, tourmaline, emerald or something else which I have yet to have tested. The maker mark is small and it's difficult to make the mark out.

Does anyone recognize or know the maker mark?

    Thanks!
    Kevin

Has it been tested for gold content? The stone looks synthetic, maybe spinel. The metal workmanship is a failure, maybe a 3 out of 10.Casting porosity, bubbles, non removed mold seams. The setting gallery seems to have unsoldered/unfilled areas, solder joints from shank to gallery unfinished, split shank area unfinished.

I haven't tested it yet, will have to find a spot to test on it to test below surface area. I'll admit, a lot going on there, looks like a lost wax process that got a little lost perhaps... ? Certainly doesn't have that smooth or even worn gold finish look you would expect.

It's one of those things that look ..good from far , but far from good !
    Still...test the stone.

I just tested the gold with 14K gold testing solution and it tested positive for 14K gold. The last image shows the test 5 minutes after placing the solution on. HPIM2985.JPG HPIM2986.JPG HPIM2987.JPG HPIM2989.JPG HPIM2991.JPG

The stone almost has to be synthetic. A genuine emerald that clear wouldn't be in a setting that poorly made. It might be another natural stone, but I'd bet on synthetic. Maybe Chatham or other lab grown?

Maybe or maybe not, but the variety of different grades of any one particular stone would amaze you.
And the cost .....would astound you.
As I found out once.....bidding on genuine semi precious stones..!

  8. This could be a green garnet.

WOW,if that is genuine emerald, its rare to find it without flaws. Green garnet seems plausible ;)
