Terry, nice piece of political memorabilia.

I knew who it was as soon as I saw the "Jay" -- the way his last name is written would be a good "handwriting example" to help hone skills at identifying artists' signatures. ;)

Terry, the market may be flooded or possibly saturated then, but as long as you can easily locate the item to list it "whenever" . . . .

Just don't forget the Sharon Percy Rockefeller (wife) connection to (now deceased) former Senator Charles Percy and the unsolved murder of her twin sister. Now there's a sad human-interest story from many years ago.

Well, after looking at Af's shed and contents again, his "toss it in the shed", has taken on a whole new meaning.:writer:

    Nice political piece there, Terry.

Thanks, Sharona! We have loads of fun. Friendly competition on who can find the better pieces.

I was pretty excited I was able to ID that askos (ewer). I almost gave up on it. At least for the time being.

Dang! It's too bad about the damage, Sharona. Your piece is early-20th C. and made by a very good maker: 'Hayashi Chuzo'.

I know nothing about the rug. Maybe Taupou or 6rivets can help with that.

    You are most welcome, Sharona.

Yes, you should be able to made your $2 back and a bit more. If there were no damage, it would have been worth at least a few hundred.

This small lost was $59. The last two items were purchased from the "junk jewelry pile" for a $1 each.

19th C. Chinese silk panel (in rough condition, but only a few bucks).

19th C. Chinese brass footed bowl. (These folks: http://www.rubylane.com/item/741898-Mx2e583b/Asian-19th-Century-Large-Footed-Brass are asking $500 for almost the same exact example).

Large 20th C. Chinese porcelain teapot w/Ming mark on base.

Vintage 1977 Enamel Pacifica rock-n-roll belt buckle (this particular piece sells for around $50 - $100).

Half carat princess cut diamond engagement ring in 14kt white gold (this probably retailed for around $1.5K when purchased by the former owner. the box is not original, one I had in stock).

Nuff - You are inspirational! Thanks for sharing your posts.

I've had one of my seasons yet in finding better treasures - items are out there. I'm excited next month to hit a big flea where I usually do well and fill up the entire car. Hopefully I'll have some good items to post about.

    Thanks, Funkeys!

I recall just about 3 years ago I knew next to nothing about ceramics or Asian items. Some of the folks over on the other board at that time inspired me to learn more about these items via their finds/post. That board has taught me a lot over the years and I'm looking forward to adding to that knowledge with future postings on this board.

I wish you much luck and many good finds on your travels. They're out there!

    19th/early-20th C. Chinese small sancai-glazed vase (these sell for around: $200 - $300).

    Early-20th C. French gilt-bronze pin dish/tray by: 'L. Levee'.

20th C. carved alabaster(?) in the form of a gift box with bow.

We took the gold and diamond ring that was purchased yesterday for $1 to the jeweler and had them clean and evaluate it. To our surprise, the jeweler said the stone is of a very high quality old mine cut diamond, but mounted in a later modern gold mount. It's probably around 100 years old or more and would recommend a GIA certification for better results. The gold's value was only around $40, but the value is all in the stone.

We've never found or owned this type of stone before so the news was quite surprising to say the least.

My recent great find. It's already sold but found it at GW for 5$ they told me the .980 mark was the model number. William Spratling with early mark. It went to the roadshow with me and appraised at 1500$ retail but got 1000 for it. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
