First time I saw it was at a funky little theatre in State College, PA in about 1970 or 71. It was hysterical but I don't remember anyone throwing anything - when did that start? I know I heard about the "audience participation" much later.

    Hi,
It started in Manhattan in the early 70s. I forgot the name of the theatre but it was the only movie shown there six nights a week at midnight for 15+ years. From there the "participation" became a cult status.
