I purchased this recently and I'm not positive what it is but I'm almost sure it's an Antique Filigree Christmas Ball. It measures about 4" in height including the 2 loops and is about 3" in diameter at the center.

The ball has a lot of detailed filigree and I think it's most likely gold gilded or plated but I'm not sure. There are no make marks on it that I can find. I would suspect that perhaps it was made in either England or Italy but there is no way for me to be certain about that. I've searched for one like it but haven't been able to locate one.

Does anyone have an idea of where and when it may have been made and if it was to be used as a Christmas Ornament?

    Thanks!

    Hi,
If memory serves me right it was made in India during the 1970s.

Hi Greg, thanks for the reply! I hadn't given India any thought but certainly possible. It's a very detailed item with all the metal wiring being soldered. I was only able to locate 1 vintage filigree Christmas ornament from India while searching and some of the wire work did look similar.
