What little I know about NA rugs comes from taupou. Only the Navajo weave rugs and their rugs do not have fringe. Your second rug is probably a Navajo rug and the other not.

While I'm more used to seeing the Storm pattern have a central figure radiating lines out from the center......It is certainly a Crystal !!

The 1st one may be Mexican ???

First one is a Shirvan kilim.

    Any idea what vintage ?
I love it. But not a great judge of rugs.

I can't match the pattern or the fringe to that type of rug !
    I'm not saying you're wrong.......just that I can't confirm your assertion.

Could you please provide some confirmation.

I'm looking for one with similar fringe, too - but haven't seen one yet...

anunderkaufen - did you see one with this pattern and fringe in your travels?

I'm sorry if I sounded like I was admonishing you komo. :(
I was really just trying to help you, you understand.
It's just that over the years I've learned things about certain people, and you haven't known Anund as long as I have. I was just telling you that I've never known him to be wrong.
I wasn't trying to squelch your curiosity, I was trying to build Anund's credibility.
    Sorry. I'm an idiot.

I based my assertion on the pattern and the colors and hadn't even considered the fringe. It very well could be Armenian but I think Azerbaijani is more likely even if not Shirvan. It's just not a good match for Anatolian.

mmmm. again, can you give a vintage or example? ... I'm very much out of my depth here, anundverdaufen...
    thanks for coming back...

Man , this has taken a lot of work & my eyes are shot..............
    BUT....
While I can't yet match the design , I believe I have the manufacture....
Notice the fringe , thin and spaced , with two thicker bands at either end.
They exhibit the same twist ....

See how that compares with your rug, Scout....

I thought I was seeing the typical segmented construction of a kilim, now that I see it's a continuous weave you can scratch what I said above.

waaaal, now... you can scatch it all you like, I'm still in the weeds here.

I *think* the fringe is an attachment, not part of the weave itself (except the two thicker pieces on the ends) - I don't have it in front of me, but I remember thinking how easy it would be to add back (but not to match)...

Thank you both, but especially Komo for going the yard on this. I am still wondering who/what to attribute the design and colors to...? It's such a nice, strong design and rug. My favorite of the two.

Can I ask for ...more help? :)
