Featured Austrian Amphora? Nouveau Vase

Hello good pottery folks,

Saw this on Facebook marketplace the other day and grabbed it up (I read a couple of Mr Nate's posts about finding silver on FB, so decided to start looking for glass/pottery - this is the first interesting piece I found).

The marks on the base are pretty worn but I'm fairly sure this is an Amphora piece made in Austria, I've found some with similar decoration that are listed online as Amphora, early 20th century. I even found one with the same shape number on Worthpoint (no pics of the marks):

What's visible of the marks on the base is the number 614, and opposite, the numbers 3888 / 42. There are some remains of other marks but too hard too make out.

Can anyone confirm this is Amphora? I've seen one or two listings this style listed as Paul Dachsel design but - nothing to prove that. Any other info will be as always, greatly appreciated!

the smooth leaves and rose against the lumpy textured surface....gives it a kinda beauty & the beast quality........ hard to look away !!

 

Agree! At first it does seem a bit incongruent, but it works and is quite striking!
