This pair of ponies have been in my family for as long as I remember and my mom as a Heisey lover always said they were Heisey but they aren't marked. Being a "horse crazy" kid I always insisted on having them on the table at special dinners. I don't remember chipping them but I'm guessing I might have been responsible for the chip on the mane of one ooops!

Anyway, I know this style of pony was made by various glass manufacturers and all I can say is that I know they go back at least to the early 60's and probably before. They are 5 1/8" high.

Sorry for these bad photos, I'm bad at glass and my photo area is not accessible at the moment so these are using my phone. I can try again if needed. Thanks so much!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Cute, but I have no info to help with these.

    Real or Repro says:

As if collectors didn't have enough trouble dating the Paden figures, they must also separate Paden ponies from a similarly sized Heisey pony figure. Heisey made its pony from 1942 through about 1952. The first color was crystal made ca. 1942-1952. Cobalt blue was made in the early 1940s; amber in the 1950s. Most crystal is marked; amber is unmarked; some cobalt is marked.

Thank you:) I had seen that but it's confusing for sure. My ponies do have the glass between the legs and are the smaller size though I measure just over 5" high. They have the rectangular base so I think it means they are Imperial or Heisey however as I remember them before 1976 it would indicate Heisey but they aren't marked. (though it does say most are marked)

    oye...

    They look like Heisey :p

My opinion at two cents, a bargain!

The Paden City pony was 11 1/2" (I used to have one). Your mom appears to be correct that these are Heisey ponies which could be either marked or unmarked. Imperial reproduced them in crystal. Shine a black light on them. If they glow yellow, they should be Heisey.

Well my guys glow yellow under black light though now you have me wondering just where I put my big black light in the tidying that's been going on. I could only lay hands on my portable and it's not strong enough to take a good pic so this is enhanced. They aren't quite so greenish.

So I guess unmarked Heisey then.:)

I dont' see a problem. While the black light is not a guarantee, if the question is "are these Imperial or Heisey?" The answer is "Yes" but no one cares anymore. The color (above) is correct for lime glass, which Heisey used for their figurines. There is no way to know if the Ponies Imperial sold were old stock from Heisey or ones they themselves made. Only Heisey/Imperial made the ones above, Paden City's were at least twice as tall. No others made ponies that look like this.

The Diamond H trade mark was stamped into the mold. As the mold wore and was polished, the marks became fainter until they were re-stamped. Sometimes they didn't get re-stamped as soon as they should and many pieces were made without the marks.

The Vogel Five monograph from the Museum of American Glass in West Virginia pretty well tells all that is known about Heisey's figurines.

Thanks for the added info:) I'm guessing that the no one cares anymore might have to do with people not collecting these so much these days.

I tried (poorly) to say that some wares sold by Imperial may have been made by Heisey before they closed. Thusly, no way to differentiate.
