Ronald, you might get more answers if you post your question about the dining room table in the "Furniture" section of this board and include a photo or photos of the table you need information on.

In the meantime, I believe it might be referring to Bernhardt furniture made in North Carolina USA (thus the "NC" marking you mentioned).

I have found a "Bernhardt" website which gives the NC (North Carolina) company's history back to the last quarter of the 19th century.

I'll post that website if you will start a thread with photos of your dining room table in the "furniture" section.;)

WELCOME Ronald!!!! Once you're comfortable, read up on uploading pictures under 1 MB - that will be most helpful to others in helping you identify what you want to know. Uncluttered, clear, sharp pictures of top, bottom and sides are most helpful!! There are many experts that will come along to help!!! This is a fun and very informative site....enjoy!!

Edit: Also what @yourturntoloveit said about posting your question in the right forum!!!!

The house in Sweden which my great-great grandfather built, not sure of the date. I'm guessing 1885-1890

My mom's paternal grandfather, a blacksmith by trade, fought for the Confederacy during the Civil War, and became a devout pacifist as a result.

Some of Mom's father's siblings are in this pic taken between 1900 and 1910 in rural Georgia, northwest of Savannah.

My granddad, the blacksmith's son, when he was 10 or 12.

    And when he was 18.

My dad's father when he served in the Marines around 1920. He served onboard the USS Olympia when it returned the US's first Unknown Soldier from France.

Yes, she is in sad shape, from what I understand. I was there over 40 years ago. I've meant to return, but just haven't gotten around to it. Maybe we should take a trip this summer.

She is something to see. She needs to be cradled and out of the water. Maybe a faux water environment.
If you go be sure to go to the adjacent maritime museum where there is more from her.
There is a WWII sub next to her, the USS Becuna, also needing help.
I suggest you also visit the USS NJ across the river which needs help as well.

I also just visited Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Note: there are no longer any remains within.

Nice collection! We'll definitely have to make a weekend jaunt. Sounds like there's more to see than you can grasp in just one day.

I recently read that with DNA testing, the Unknown Soldiers will not be unknown much longer.

The Maritime museum in itself is huge and if you have that interest you will be there awhile.
They even have a video projection station where an old salt draws a tattoo on you while explaining what it means.
There's a place to eat between the museum and the Oly.
Make sure, on the Oly, you stand at the exact spot where Commodore Dewey stated; "You may fire when you are ready Gridley."
    :)

    All remains go to the
Air Force's Hickam Field next to Pearl Harbor for identification.
The remains that were in the tomb have been identified and removed. No more will be interred there.

My mom and aunt visited Sweden about 20 years ago, and found the house my great-great-grandfather built. It had been updated, of course; but the basic structure was the same. The owner was at home, and was kind enough to invite them in for a tour. Then she gave them an old skeleton key that had fit one of the original doors.
