This is a signed and numbered print but I have no idea who the artist is. It looks like it says Chris to me but Chris who? I was hoping maybe someone would recognize the print cause I don' think there is much to go on by the signature alone. Thanks in advance.

With an edition size that high, the print (which looks like a photomechanical reproduction) is worth less than the time it would take you to research the artist.

Sorry, Mr. Chu did not sign it clearly. Or it could be Ms.
My reaction was the same as Mark's. Though I do like it. It would be neat as a
Christmas gift to all my friends and neighbors.
BTW, where is that? One of the places I missed.

I've no idea but I am curious as to where that is.
My first thought was up by Sacre' Coeur but it doesn't look much like Paris below.

I'm guessing it might be a fantasy piece because, agreeing with KoT, it's not quite quite, if you know what I mean. It sure looks like it could be Sacre' Coeur, but it's not the right view.

Agree with Mark. I learned that here on the Antique Board long ago. Prints with very high editions are not worth much if anything.

    This is usually true.
Note that an edition # of, let's say, 100 may not actually attain that many printings. It may not sell well or the artist decides to stop it for some reason, whatever and there may only be one, 4, or 11, or so on.

Looks like a Welsbach street lamp -- Boston?

Good point, out of 100 printings. I would consider 100 printings in the category of "not that many", but correct it may even be fewer than 100 as you pointed out.

Kaspers example has 1,950 printings. Even if they missed a few, there is bound to be many still out there. I think that quantity, just short of 2K, also speaks to a "mass produced" nature of the piece.

    Looks too high for Boston.

    Indeed.
The professional artist I assisted made everything by hand along with her staff of helpers so there were/are very low editions (under my previous rule of thumb) Most of her art, that I have, were either the only one made or the first or the last...even though there may be few in between. She would give it whatever unused # there was as I requested. I didn't care if it was the last # but always wanted #1. :)

Kot, as often happens, you did nail this one. A little artistic freedom.~

Yeah I didn't think it had any real value. It's a $10 starting bid with no reserve and we would be lucky to get that. Heck I would probably be willing to drop it to $5 just to get rid of it. I was just hoping to be able to put a name with it. Thanks for the info guys. At least I know where it is "kind of" suppose to be of. It's pretty large. It's not my taste but maybe someone will want it. LOL! Thanks again.

That's not a kinda, supposed to be , It IS the stairs to Sacre' Coeur as King thought.

LOL! Yeah but it has a little artistic interpretation going on with it. LOL! At least I have a place. I will just put that and "artist unknown" in the description. Works for me. LOL! Thanks again guys and gals. :)

Yes, the photo shows the full stairs. up on the left, and down on the right.

Your artist is showing the exact street lamps, middle dividing railing with the supports, and the buildings on the bottom, but he does not show ALL the down stairs on the right. He concentrates on the up stairs on our left.

Actually a lot less artistic freedom than I first thought.

Ah ha! I see what you mean. I was not thinking of it that way. He/she was on the other side of the lamps and higher up. Now I see it. Once I took a closer look it made way more sense. I thought there were more differences than that. Thanks.

" I thought there were more differences than that"

    Me, too.

BTW, King is the one said, "My first thought was up by Sacre' Coeur" and he hasn't been back since. You might want to catch him to get better confirmation of locale. I know it's Montmarte near Sacred Heart but not how close.
