    Hi Rose,
The old ones were usually clear glass. When see thick glass with lots of bubbles (seeds) I always gravitate towards Mexico.

It's a bird feeder/waterer /font /fount. These are mostly continental. A lot found their way to the U.S. in all those antiques container lots that came over in the '70s, 80's, 90's. !9th. century. probably northern Europe, maybe France. Bottle glass. Some were made in the U.S.. There's a great example in the Sandwich Glass museum, blown of clear glass with a swan or bird finial. American origin would be rare.

Sure would like to see this in hand. Then I could tell if it were authentic or....newer. I've never seen one reproed, but the glass doesn't appear to have much..."bloom" in the photo.

The "bloom" is the natural mellowing of the surface achievable only with the passage of great time. Something that is very elusive, if not impossible to capture accurately in photos.

Is there any provenance with this piece? If it could be traced to an early American maker it would be fairly valuable.

Hi, thank you for the comments. Pops found it a thrift here in San Diego. Why don't you live out here Skeezix? =) I would show it to you! Should I try getting some better photos outdoors in natural lighting?

    Hi Rose,
Sorry about my comments. I only took a quick glance since I am dealing with two deaths here, one of my best friends and the lady across the street who I have been helping. I am in a fog.

Here is a more upclose photo. You can see on the inside where it looks like the glass extends inside from the little "spout".

Greg, the loss of a friend or loved one is never easy to deal with.....I find the older I get the smaller my world has become in regards to all who have left this earth.:arghh:
