I found this calendar among a bunch of other more recent calendars in a mystery chest in my basement, was a few interesting items in there, this is the oldest item I would assume, the other calendars dates between 1930 - 1955 and are just tiny pocket sized, tough it is really interesting to read what they wrote in them and a kid have doodled bunnies in one of them!. I have not yet found who was the owner of the chest, it stood here when we got the house, they're probably dead by now tough.
I am a little bit jealous of how much information they had in the calendar, tough I don't dare to read it to much since the glue is pretty dry, don't want the pages to fall off :nailbiting:
( I know we have the luxury of just googeling things but I got the feeling people aren't as eager for general knowledge anymore :bored: )

It is in a really good shape for being 108 years old! It is written in the old swedish when they used F instead of V, I really adore that classy type of writing!

Are calendars worth something? I did ask an antique expert via email but I never got an answer :shifty:

Zinalu, Although it says on the front that it is a calendar, the pages inside look like they have a lot more than that. Almost like an almanac?

I think the term is used in a different manner... British: a university catalog

It is a calendar inside with every month and day etc but also a lot of seemingly random information, everything from where the star signs are located on the night sky to what gas masks looked like during WW1, so I'm not sure what it is exactly.

Hi! I am in Sweden. That kind of calendar shows up at garage sales here pretty often and normally they do not get sold even if the price is as low as a dollar or two. Almanac and calendar - that's almanacka and kalender in Swedish and both words are often used as synonyms. Most Swedes wouldn't be able to tell the differance between an almanac and a calendar since both words mean pretty much the same to us. If you want to see how much people are paying for almanacs in Sweden you can visit eBay's Swedish branch tradera.com. If you want to know the story of the first owner of your almanac there are data bases you could search that list all immigrants that reached Ellis Island. If you find the same name there as you find in your almanac you could probably track down that person and see where/if he/she lived in Sweden.
