Posted some time ago on Ebay. The general opinion was a late 18th century piece. The upper right is signed with "MMe ( for Madame?) Stowe". Someone suggested that it could be Harriet Beecher Stowe but the painting appears to have been done prior to her birth.
I really like the painting but may have to sell it if I can get a decent price. If not, I'll keep it.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks

I thought Mme is mademoiselle ,wich is an unmarried girl ? She is lovely . Looks like canvas that was laid on board .

Harriet was also an artist , so could it be a painting of her mother ? I know her mother died when she was 5 , but maybe she had a drawing or something she based it on . I agree it sure does look like her .

But her mother's name was Roxanna Foote Beecher and would be unusual if Harriet painted it, to sign with Madame Stowe.
I tried some facial recognition apps but they all work funky.

From the clothing and hair style, yours is not a Victorian-era painting (as you were told previously.)

Oh wow I'm jealous! To the right buyer I think you could get quiet the sum for it, if I had the money I would certainly buy pieces from the 1800s, but I'm broke hehe.

If you sell it as it is I would roughly guess you could get around 60 - 150$ ( don't know if you use dollar tough hehe ) but if you get more information about the artist that price could probably rise, or maybe the artist is even Hariette who made a self portrait, who knows, but it would be worth taking it to get it valued!

I am just not seeing the resemblance. The hairstyle is common to the period. The shape of her face is very different, not long and horsy like HB Stowe.
