Villeroy & Boch Mettlach Hand painted tile

Was wondering if this is just a hobbyist piece and what the age on this might be. Cool wire hanger/ stand.

Do you think it was designed to use as a trivet that would fold flat to store?

 

Maybe, But wouldn't using it like that damage the painted surface?

 

I'm not convinced this was hobbyist painted. The feather coloration is way better than that.

 

I did find another one with the same wire frame. Different bird and signature. I think it sold for $65.00. I agree it is better than hobbyist but finding an artist is like the needle in a haystack scenario.

 

I agree that decorators are a tough search. How long ago was the $65 sale?

 

I don't remember the date and couldn't find it again.

While I didn't dig too deep or find anything really substantial, I did see an F Euler listed as:

“F Euler& Co. O O Friedlander .... Sole Representative of Villeroy & Boch in the United States and Canada”

 

All I saw was shipping logs to the US. from F Euler & Co.
Interesting though. Could he be the same?
