Dear all,

Apart from generally liking old stuff, my interest has been tickled by starting a furniture restoration course, so I was looking for a place to hang out on occasion and ask questions....this seems to fit the bill so far!

Welcome to the friendliest board around. You must be warned, once you start a furniture restoration course you will be drawn over to the dark side. You will become one of the many like yourself and think nothing but antiques or almost antiques.

Welcome! And for mercy's sake, don't demolish that gorgeous chair until you know what's what!! I even like the upholstery. Put a pillow on the chair, or a folded afghan to preserve it from the cat.

Hence the cautious approach and the post here! I also like the upholstery. The R front leg is rather loose and needs to be consolidated for the chair to be used without concern. I have not dug around too much before knowing more, but think I may be able to get at it from underneath without touching the upholstery. Whether the upholstery is original or has been replaced will influence the willingness to risk it.
