What is this weird mark?

I bought a cheap, heavyweight chippendale plate that's supposedly plated.

What is this marking?

 

That's a weird one, bluemoon. Can't say as I have ever seen one like this. And there's so little to go on, I wouldn't even know where to start a search.

I assume it's on the underside and not visible when the plate is in use?

How about a picture of the whole plate?

 

Is it etched in the piece? It almost looks like one of those glue marks left where a sticker has peeled off.

 

Yeah, it is etched / engraved.
And located at the top side of the plate.

 

Looks like an outline of Batman facing away and holding his cape up....

 

Hm. Nothing the least bit distinctive about the plate. Nice enough but I doubt it matters who made it.

Actually, if you look at it upside down, it could look like two eagles...

 

Twin eagles... or a pair... I can see it.
