This is another thing I recently picked up. Can anybody help with the age and value of this? There is a stamp on the back 433 WAL. I am thinking possibly Art Deco or maybe a reproduction? How would I be able to tell? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
That kind of what I thought at first. The question is, did that happen a lot (if at all)? Am I right about the style? It looks Art Deco to me.
I always called it faux tudor revival ,and Ive not really seen one like this before . It makes you wonder why they did it ? Im curious , what are you going to do with it ? refinishing it seems a lot of effort .
20s-30s depression era traditional revival buffet. Not deco. I think Johnny is right about the legs being cut down.
Can anybody tell me the approximate value of this piece? It looks like it was painted at some time. It has places where the paint is chipping off and has a dark finish underneath. It also has a place on top where someone tried to sand off the paint like they were going to restore it or something. I am going to use it as a TV stand/entertainment center for my living room.
from what Brad has taught us here....I'd venture a guess at between $50 to $100. The $100 being on the high side of retail.
Not a lot of value in this condition. As always, value is dependent on location and venue. I could see this going for less than $50.00 at auction. It would need to be repainted to get more at retail.
I don't think you were wrong. I think if painted up nicely this could bring $100.00 or more. It is just unsellable at retail as-is IMHO.
