If you are the one selling it, it should be on the "sell" board.

Whoever is selling it needs better photographs - clear, sharp details of the locket and chain elements, and good clear photos of any control marks. $4500 is a lot to ask on blind faith.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

    Just my non-expert thoughts...

The item received no bids on ebay.

At first glance, it has the look of gold-filled Victorian lockets, sometimes called Etruscan revival, and people are used to seeing these go for hundreds, not thousands.

So, as MoreOtherStuff said, the seller would need to demonstrate and document the 18k bona fides somehow, as well as the nature of the stones. Since the family history contributes, I would think that a written, notarized account of it might be nice?

It's a very pretty piece, but before paying that kind of money, I would just think that a lot more information would be needed.

Rare means the seller couldn't find another one active that week.(LOL) One of a kind means they only found one at the yard sale. Unique means it was the last one on the rack at Claire's. This is old, but the metal content...who knows. I wouldn't pay more than $30 for it with those pictures and the lack of documentation, to be blunt about it; the bad lighting and blurry photos could be hiding anything and everything. It would need professional testing and a written appraisal from a reputable jeweler.
