Thoughts on these watercolors... thanks!

Looks like the artist may have been the illustrator of this book. I'll see if I can find anything else.

Well, in WorldCat I found the above book but it doesn't give further information about the artist. I did find somebody who was associated with art books and may have been an illustrator and artist. The name is Aleksandr' Abramovich Aleinikov. He was born in 1915, according to WorldCat. I'm not sure whether he is the same as this artist.

 

And really I'm not absolutely positive that the book illustrator is the same as the one who did the pictures in the original post above. Same name, right time period, is all I know...

I'm speechless! Fig and Anund, I cannot believe you figured this one out! What great detective work. Beyond impressive.

Now I have something to go on. I'm stumbling with the Cryllic, but is the 2nd of Anund's links a museum in Moscow? Or is it some kind of gallery? I think I'm going to have to show the links to a friend who is fluent in Russian.

I honestly cannot believe that you figured out the artist on these. I really appreciate the help.

 

Your first link is great, as it identifies the full name with the same artist being discussed in the top of this thread. The picture to the top left in that link looks a lot like these same pictures of people on a bench.

Lucille, show them to your friend, but you can also get a general impression of what it says by copying and pasting into Google Translate. It's not perfect, but I see that the first link talks about how there is not much about the artist on the Internet.

The second link is great, too, Anund! Should be very useful.

 

The second link is to a site for something called "World-Inform" -- an Internet Magazine. Sort of a news site, I take it.
