Antique pottery marking

    Can anyone help me figure out what this marking on the jar might be? I didnt buy it but seen it at a thrift store. Any help would be appreciated.

    I'm guessing blooey was commenting on the resemblance of the figure on the left to a penguin. (at least that's what I'm thinking)

    Do you have a photo of the item? It's usually helpful to see the whole thing.

    Thank you! Do you have any references where i can research this? Also, i know i havent uploaded the full jar but if you looked at the marking on the jar in the above view, the jar would be upside down.. dont know if thats any significance or not

    I hate do say this.... I unfortunately did not take a photo of the underneath.. im new to antiquing and did not even think to do that

    Ah, it says 1/2 so maybe a half quart or half gallon.
