A printed title at the bottom normally indicates a mass produced print (even with a plate mark) - the signature is most likely part of the print.

Always carry a loupe to inspect for process dots + likewise the signature. If you see dots, it's part of the print. It can be very subtle - just takes practice.

Here's one of Raimondi's - thanks Tyeldom3! - Italian landscape prints on etsy:

Framed prints by Raimondi average $20 each. :(

I was just obsessed with some prints we had to price for an estate sale, by Tsuguharu Foujita. In the frame, they looked like true mezzotints (different technique from yours), but we finally took them out of the frames - they turned out to be out a book. If real mezzotints, they would have been very valuable, but... :(

I was happy to learn about Foujita, though - he was a really exceptional Japanese artist who had great success in Paris in the 20s and a real ... character. Maybe I'll run across something by him, who knows?? I definitely know more than the average Goodwill or fleamarket shopper about Foujita.

Raimondi's originals are also very collectible. IOW, these pieces can be a gateway to learning about an artist you can keep your eye out for *wink wink.*

    (Short) Thread below.

Tsuguharo Foujita aquatints - Opinions and info welcome...
