Old softball????

It's the right size for a softball, but what is it really? Age? That zigzag cut on the edges of the leather doesn't look like any ball I know. There was writing on it at some point, but it's so faded out I can't read it.

 

Handmade is, of course, likely and maybe it was handmade because they couldn't afford otherwise.
Or, it is a genuine old manufactured one.
Either way it may have some good value methinks.

 

The mark probably read "Official Clincher".

Thanks, that's her. Or him, or it. I figure mine is worth about three bucks as a display piece. Then again I got it free, so I can't complain much.
